Meetings for Animal Control Ordinance

To promote civic engagement and gather community feedback, the Lee County Health Department will hold three (3) community meetings across the county to discuss the Animal Control Ordinance.  All meetings will be held from 6pm - 8pm and the dates and locations are below:

Thursday, January 6th @ Deep River Elementary School
Thursday, January 13th @ Greenwood Elementary School
Thursday, January 20th @ Broadway Elementary School  

2010 Property Taxes

2010 real and personal property tax bills have one more day to be paid in full before interest accrues and enforced collection action begins.  Per North Carolina General Statute 105 - 360, "taxes are payable at par or face amount if paid before January 6 following the due date.  Taxes paid on or after January 6 following the due date are delinquent and are subject to interest charges."

Last Day to Pay Property Taxes

The Lee County Tax Office would like to remind everyone that the last day to pay property taxes this calendar year is Thursday, December 30, 2010.  Lee County Government offices will be closed Friday, December 24, 2010; Monday, December 27, 2010; and Friday, December 31, 2010.  It is important to pay within the calendar year for those that claim credit for property taxes on their income tax filings. 

Paying property taxes is easy and many options are available:

1. A dropbox is conveniently located on Hillcrest Drive at the corner of the Government Center
2. Payment may be submitted online through the county website, http://www.leecountync.gov/
3. Of course, one can always pay a bill in person at 106 Hillcrest Drive or mail it to the address provided on the bill
