Chair Canning Class

Learn the art of Chair Caning through a hands on class at NC Cooperative Extension. This two-day class will begin with an information session Tuesday, August 24 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and participants will be completing chairs Saturday, August 28 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at the McSwain Extension Education Center. The class is sponsored by the Lee County Extension and Community Association and will be taught by Helen Buchanan, local basket weaver and chair caning expert. Registration fee is $8 for both classes and must be paid in advance. For more information call 919-775-5624.

Kiwanis Children's Park

Installation of the main playground equipment and shade structures is complete at Kiwanis Children's Park.  We are waiting on the music element, but we hope that will be installed very soon.  We would love to hear if you are enjoying the new elements and the park in general.

Dance Classes

Sign up your children for dance classes.  The only spots open in these dance classes at this point are for ages 10+.  For more information, review the flier or call Lee County Parks and Recreation at 775-2107 x207.

Friends of the Library Meeting Tonight! Come and Join!

The Friends of the Lee County Library invite you to join their ranks!  The next meeting is tonight at 6 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Main Library

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of "To Kill a Mockingbird" at the Lee County Library

The Lee County Library has scheduled a special event in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the publication of Harper Lee's classic novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird."  Tonight, Tuesday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lee County Library's Auditorium we will hold a book discussion on this iconic work of fiction.  This event is free to the public.

Greenway Bridge

Installation of a bridge for the Greenway trail behind the movie theatre may occur tomorrow, August 18, 2010.  Paving could occur as early as September.
